Every girl believes that one day she'll be someone.  When a girl is a Girl Scout, she doesn't wait for 'one day.' She's prepared to be someone today. She's ready to take charge. She's ready to make a difference. She's ready to be a leader. From the earliest age, a Girl Scout learns she has a voice and she learns how to use it, not just to better herself, but to better her community as well.

More than 15,000 of these girls between the ages of 5 and 17 belong to the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. With the help of 6,000 adult volunteers, they become successful women of courage, confidence and character through age-appropriate opportunities that grow with them. These activities do more than help them develop into strong leaders, these activities allow girls to discover who they are, connect with their communities and take action to make the world a better place.

The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is different than other groups and organizations that provide services to girls. While those organizations focus on activities that last a season, Girl Scouting provides experience that lasts a lifetime. The Girl Scouts engage girls' curiosity through programs and opportunities they're actively involved in planning themselves. Every year, these events are reimagined as another group of girls participate for the first time.

These activities teach important, life-long skills and values. Whether taking part in games or activities, attending summer day camps, or participating in an after-school program, girls are challenged to try new things and learn about themselves.

The Girl Scouts were founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low with 18 members in Savannah, Georgia. Low believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. You can only reach new heights if you want to go beyond where you already are. The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is the place girls want to be, not only because of the opportunities provided, but because every employee, volunteer and girl feels an undying passion to be there themselves.
